Special Help For Tristanites of Tristan Island in the South Atlantic
This was a very special journey for me. These poor souls couldn't be farther from Fifth Avenue.  Their little island is only 24 miles in circumference and all they eat is potatoes.  What a life!  Obviously, this was a job for the Temple Drake Missionary Fund.   The women here were so grateful when I opened up the world of makeup for them.  To feel more at ease and come down to their level (When in Rome!)  I requested a change of clothes that would make these country slags comfortable.  The remainder of the day was spent learning facial contouring with homemade makeup.  Grinding their native rye flower with lamb blood created a magnificent brown-toned rouge.  Let me tell you.........these dames needed rouge.  We also experimented with coal chunks mixed with pig fat.  This created wonderful gray tones for around the eyes.  This little experiment was proof enough for me that there is no excuse for not wearing makeup.  An added bonus of my little beauty seminar was the gift of a darned sock from each member of the group.  I still use them to this day for pulling hot Corning ware out of the oven on casserole night.

Before My Treatment.  Sad.

Amazing results.  It only took about an hour each!
